Get more Google SEO data with the new GWT Updates

Thanks to Google’s Webmaster Tools (GWT) team for this weeks latest and much welcomed updates. I’m sure that these two especially will be very warmly received by SEO’s and Webmasters everywhere!

Search Queries and Algorithm Updates
Google is now telling Webmasters in their Search Query Graphs exactly when they updated and changed their algorithm, so you can see inline if your traffic is affected and by which updates. Looks neat huh?

Actual, pure impression and click data

The second – and probably the most important update – is that Google are now giving more accurate data in the search impressions and clicks. Instead of giving “bucketed” or rounded data in the Webmaster tools, Google is going to give more accurate data and for 90 days (greater if you export it via XML etc).

(not provided) - deal with it!

This is critical because Webmasters have lost 99% of actual, real click data since Google pushed it’s proxy-privacy move into Secure search, which encrypts Keywords and provides them as “(not provided).” Knowing who clicked what might be questionable – especially as it doesn’t happen in AdWords – but Google didn’t provide “whole” data – characterised by the way the numbers were usually rounded or end on a 0 (just like the AdWords Keyword Tool).
