What is Google?

Most commonly, Google is a search engine owned by Google LLC, which is owned by Alphabet Inc. Google was founded in 1998 in Menlo Park by Larry Page and Sergei Brin (who, along with Eric Schmidt, are the majority stakeholders in Alphabet Inc by voting stock). When Google was first built, it was named BackRub. Today, Google is the world’s largest search engine (globally) and outside of Russia and China, it is pretty much the default search engine for most countries. Google’s enormous success and respect as being the best search engine (i.e. connecting people with the answers, resources, services, products and data they need) that it has generated enormous revenues and wealth, being one of the best performers on the NASDAQ stock market.
