Origins of the name “Google”
Google is derived from “Googol” which is the name for a very large number – 1.0 × 10^100 – representing the World Wide Web (www) and the vast number of pages it would need to crawl and index.
Google LLC – the parent limited liability corporation entity that owns “Google.com”, the search engine, is owned by parent company Alphabet Inc. (GOOG) which still trades under the old Google stock ticker “GOOG”.
